Life skill and Career Development to college students:

Life skill development training has been conducted for under graduate and post Graduate students in King Arts and Science College for women & men, Namakkal Kavingar Ramalingampillai College of Arts and Arts and Science for women and Thiruvalluvar Government College of Arts. The Resource team imparted knowledge on Understand self which consist of Communication skills, SWOT analysis, conflict resolution, Decision making, time management, preparing for interview and understanding career. Most of the students are unable to utilize their potential in an appropriate way due to lack of guidance and motivation. The subject includes Time management, coping with stress, Negotiation skills, self management and self monitoring. The training facilitates the students to improve their skill and knowledge to carry out better life in future.1500 students benefited through this Career development programs in Namakkal districts.

Rural youth collectives for Agricultural Advancement:

The training on Sustainable Agriculture has been conducted in 22 target villages in 6 Blocks in Namakkal district. 180 youth in each village participated in this awareness program. These sensitization programs have enabled the youth to involve more in agricultural work.

AN INTERFACE MEETING
An Interface meeting with leading farmers, Agricultural Experts has been organized in Puthuchatram on 10th February 2017.The efforts for establishing the District level youth Framers collective is intensified by inviting the Block level youth collective representatives.

World Cancer day:
The awareness program was conducted on 04.02.17 in Vangal, Vennanthur, N.Puthur and Kadambankurichi. The resource persons were from Cancer Institute Namakkal. Cancer is a leading cause of death around the world, according to WHO which estimates that 45 million people will die of cancer. In order to save millions save from cancer as well as instruct people to check its symptoms and its preventive measures. During the event people were made known about the risk factors causing the cancer such as tobacco use, overweight or obese, Low vegetable intake, less or no physical activity. Common Myths and Facts were shared in the awareness training.

Water and Environment awareness program:
The water and Environment awareness program was conducted on 6.2.17 at Paramthivelur, Pandamangalam and Meenatchi palayam. Mrs. Jega was the resource person .The JLG group members took part in the meeting. On the Republic day the people participated in ‘Grama Shabha’ meeting and gave petitions for clean environment and sufficient water supply to their respective villages. In this meeting the participants have planned to organize various campaigns such as motivating the people for tree planting, recycling garbage, community events towards environmental safety.

Skill training to School dropout and Unemployed youth.
Youth unemployment is dramatically on the increase in our country. Due to lack of knowledge on vocational training youth are not able to build up skills and decrease their life time earning. With these circumstances NSSS provided an opportunity for the employment training guidance and counselling for youth. The awareness was conducted at Vengarai, 15th February 2017 at Paramathi Velur, Konur, Modhu Kadu and N.P.Thavuttupalayam. The Director presided over the awareness training at Paramathi Velur. The short term trainings such as Basic Computer course, Tailoring, Embroidery, Customer service, two wheeler mechanics were discussed and focused during the awareness campaign. 156 youth participated.

Knowledge Sharing to Farmers:
The Reliance foundation has organized one day experience sharing meeting at Rasipuram. Farmers from target villages participated. The Reliance foundation coordinator shared the crop management methods. The participants learnt more about the technology on fodder and cultivate crops during the dry seasons.

International Human Rights day:
The International Human Rights day was. celebrated in Namakkal and Paramathi velu. Fr.Selvam Francis Xavier, Director, NSSS presided over the meeting at Namakkal. The significance of human Rights was focused among the participants. The Resource person Mr. Dhasayan described that Human rights are rights inherent to all human beings whatever our nationality, place of residence, sex, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, language, or any other status.
